At the age of 13 Mees lost his hand and while this was a huge setback in his life it also encouraged him to do the things that seemed most difficult with one hand. Choosing to start climbing was one of the best things in his life as the sport has played such a huge role in his rehabilitation. Mees has a bright future in competition climbing. He wants to promote climbing as much as possible so others can experience what has brought him so much joy.
